My 10 Most Traumatic Scenes In Movie History

Even the most enormous horror hounds have traumatic moments, the ones that you can feel in the pit of the stomach. The ones that make you cringe. The ones that left an impact on you in traumatic ways. I compiled a top 10 list of the moments that made me say nope.

Some of them weren’t even horror.

10. The Omen Nanny:

This scene was, and still is, one of the most traumatic things I have ever seen. With my mental illness these days, I try to fast forward that scene along with a few others like it. In my book, the creep factor in this scene is 10/10; what starts as fun descends into chaos in a split second. It is something that still haunts me.

Some scenes are just plain triggering.

9. Zombi 2: Eye Meets Splinter Scene

I won’t be posting the scenes because, let’s face it, we’d be on an FBI watchlist. This scene still gives me the creeps, and there’s a definite urge to hide from the tense scene. It messes with your mind and goes slowly, making it even more cringe-worthy. I can watch a lot of gore, but I don’t have the patience when it becomes impending doom, and it still catches me off guard and of course, can somewhat traumatize me.

eek! Even the still shots get me
8. Who Framed Roger Rabbit? : The Shoe Death Scene

OK, I have to admit this scene traumatized me at a young age. Though I was used to watching horror movies, I generally felt the pain of watching a nice guy get shoved into an acid bath. I have, of course, scenes that are much worse even in real life, but that always sticks with me as a creepy scene. We should start a fundraising campaign for another shoe to feed his family.

Poor Guy

7. Rob Zombie’s Halloween: A Death In The Woods.

As we know, love or hate him, Rob Zombie’s ideas are a modern take on the movies he loved; if people gave his work, they would realize how versed he is in horror movies. There were some standout moments in his Halloween franchise, and it all started with watching a bully get beaten to a pulp with a giant branch. The sheer brutality of the scene is what makes it traumatic for me. It was a surreal moment amidst a beautiful Fall day.

Still get chills
6. Demons 2: Sally’s Transformation

One of my favorite movies as a kid was Demons 2, and I have been a big fan since. The Sally transformation was drawn out and very thorough; you feel your nails breaking away from your skin and a new set of choppers taking over your gums. That’s when I realized it didn’t take much for me to cringe, and I loved the feeling, but it was also pretty traumatic.

5. A Nightmare On Elm Street: Dream Warriors: The Marionette Scene

Let’s face it: Fredy Krueger has stirred up many creative kills. It is because he attacks in your most fragile moment. His most creative kill to me was the marionette to someone’s doom. This scene gave me those gut hits I have been talking about. I could feel the cringe in my veins. It’s one of the best horror kills ever if you ask me, and I still have a hard time watching.

I got Goosebumps with this photo
4. The Barn: Children Shouldn’t Knock Three Times

I hear a lot of complaints about kids meeting their ends in horror movies. However, sometimes they deserve it. Like when you’re a bratty little kid trying to test evil. Evil wins within the first two minutes of the movie. I hoped you wouldn’t ask me why I was comfortable with it. It’s a legendary moment from the newly revived Slasher genre.

Let’s go get killed!
3. Zoobilee Zoo. That’s Right, I Said It

Sometimes, your trauma can come from a TV show, and Zoobilee Zoo is mine; after an extremely bad nightmare, I can remember it vividly, and it is still terrifying to me. Maybe it was the creepy-looking fools in animal costumes, or perhaps it was just the entire show in general. So this is one show that can get lost in my eyes. That’s my secret shame; consider us bonded.

2. Terrifier 2: Bedroom Scene

OK, I know it’s essential for a Terrifier fan to talk over and over about this scene. They can keep it because I still close my eyes during it, not out of fear. Instead, it’s like a little rush of adrenaline.  The brutality alone was expected from my favorite franchise, but this is not my favorite scene. It gives me the creeps from the tone of screaming on and on while the most violent thing can happen to you. That’s why I love Terrifier so much. I have seen a lot of gore-based movies, and my favorite is the Terrifier franchise.

Sir this salt tastes like bleach
1. Suburbia: The Dog Scene

This is, for sure, one of the most heart-wrenching scenes that have ever come across my eyes. I don’t know why this had to be a scene other than to make you want to smash your TV. There was no point in getting angry about it, so I boycotted it years ago because although punk rock is “Thinking for yourself,” that’s precisely what I’m doing. I will advocate for how unnecessary this scene was. I dislike it so much that I’m not even going to post a still; I just know their antics didn’t impress me.

So that’s it! My top 10 movies that made me cringe. I hope you can agree on some of these. There are so many more for me. For now, however, enjoy!
