It’s Friday the 13th and I got something special for you. A list of 13 movie references in the indie horror comedy New Fears Eve.

13 Movie References In ‘NEW FEAR’S EVE‘
1. The Kill Room scene is a reference to the traps in Saw.
2. The Downtown Chase scene between Brian and The Doctor is a reference to the Helen Shivers Chase scene in I Know What You Did Last Summer.
3. The opening with The Doctor holding hedge clippers is a nod to the iconic shot of Cropsey holding the hedge clippers in The Burning.
4. The Entire College Campus scene is a reference to Scream 2.
5. While walking across the college campus the film’s Final Girl sees The Doctor peering out from behind a bush, much in the same way that Michael Myers does in Halloween.
6. The Hospital Scene is a reference to Haddonfield Memorial Hospital and Halloween 2.
7. The fake company Hooper Industries Inc, where much of the film takes place, is named after Master of Horror Tobe Hooper.
8. During a news report sequence, a reporter begins with “it began with a scream across 911” which is a reference to Fake Weathers closing monologue in Scream.
9. One of the employees of Hooper Industries is named Harry Warden, after the killer from My Bloody Valentine.
10. The main characters favorite bar is Coscarelli’s, which is named after Phantasm filmmaker Don Coscarelli.
11. Two characters take refuge in a break room. There is a bulletin board behind them with an ad for Muschietti’s spaghetti, a reference to Andy Muschietti, the director of Mama and the IT movies.
12. When Brian exits the bathroom he waves his arms and says do not go in there, a direct reference to Ace Ventura Pet Detective.
13. When Ned is passed out in the break room he is holding a bottle of beer called Dawn of the Red, a reference to George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead.
