There have been lots of movies made about the undead. I can honestly say I’ve never quite seen the undead portrayed in such a way as they are in Undead Darling. Undead Darling portrays them as a spirit of vengeance, writing a past wrong that was inflicted against them.
Synopsis
A necrophiliac’s backyard discovery unleashes a terrifying encounter between the living and the dead.
Undead Darling was written and directed by Vincent Dormani. The film stars in George Sams and Sadie Maddock.
Undead Darling is creepy and unsettling. The necrophiliac protagonist is a totally sleazeball, as he should be, and is portrayed believably by George Sams. His overall look, actions and demeanor is absolutely disgusting. His opposite is the corpse, played by Sadie Maddock. She’s disgusting because she’s decaying on the outside, but she’s sympathetic, unlike the protagonist who is a monster. Sadie Maddock is really creepy looking and between the makeup and her performance she really sells it.
The films ending definitely has a “good for her” vibe, where the wronged woman gets revenge on those who hurt her. I really dug Undead Darling a lot and it definitely helps that it reminds me of my favorite Avenged Sevenfold song, ‘A Little Piece of Heaven.’
Final Thoughts
Undead Darling is a creepy and disgusting little short. I was captivated the entire time and enjoyed the hell out of it. The performances are great and the makeup effects and direction are top notch. I’d really like to see Vincent Dormani tackle a feature because he killed it with this short film.
