FGBFF 2018 – ‘Liz Drives’ Horror Short Review

I wasn’t sure exactly what this movie was going to be about. I love horror stories that involve road trips. For me, I come up with the best horror scenarios when driving through dark, desolate areas. So much could happen out in the middle of nowhere. You could run out of gas. You might have to stop at one of those creepy motels on the side of the road. You could have a weird encounter at a rest stop. Liz Drives is an eight minute film that packs tension and action. Let’s take a look at Liz Drives.

Liz Drives Synopsis:

For estranged sisters Liz and Ellie, being a family has never been easy – but there are some horrors you create yourself.

The film stars Sophia Davey, Cassandra Magrath, Christopher Kirby and Amy Bradney-George. Written and directed by Mia’kate Russell, the film was produced by Russell, Magrath, Davey and Tim Egan.

My Thoughts:

Wow! This movie is eight minutes of tension and action and it ends with a twist that blindsided me. I never even thought of this as an ending. It is amazing! The movie is about Liz and her sister, Ellie, who are going on a road trip to visit an estranged family member. They make a stop at a gas station and it is here where Ellie meets a man with a smashed up hand traveling with a woman with a bloodied face. Ellie appears to be abducted by this man. This is where the story goes awry. The search is on for Ellie and the outcome is shocking to say the least. Liz Drives packs an entire blockbuster in just eight minutes. It definitely deserves the full feature treatment, so if you’re reading this, Hollywood, get your checkbook out! If you get a chance to see this one, jump on it!
