FGBFF 2018 – Don’t Ever Change (2018), A Hilariously Disturbing Short

We’ve all heard the phrase “Don’t ever change” at one time or another in our lives. Usually people tell us this as in, “You’re so funny!” “Your personality is so great!” or “You have such a a big heart.” But what if someone was telling us to not change the most sinister part about us? Director Don Swaynos puts a spin on a classic concept and throws all preconceived notions out the door with his hilariously disturbing horror short Don’t Ever Change.

Frank Mosley as Jason in ‘Don’t Ever Change’
  1. By now, we all know it’s officially Women in Horror Month. What better way to celebrate than by checking out the very talented women in Don’t Ever Change? The mother, Karen, played by the astonishing Cyndi Williams (Room 2005), is so clever in her given role that she will make you laugh and scare you, all at the same time. The daughter, Amy (Heather Karfa: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003), is brilliant without question. There is just something so real and relatable about her. It makes her performance effortless. Both of these woman absolutely should be celebrated. It can’t not mention the witty performance given by the handsome Frank Mosley, who portrayed Jason. He was very hard hitting in this short (no pun intended). This trio was a blast to watch from start to finish.
  2. The story itself is so well written. Don Swaynos knows exactly how to captivate his audience with ease. The twist is so fun, that I didn’t want the ten minute short to end!
  3. Don’t Ever Change has wonderful cinematography. It feels like a full length big budget picture. I would highly recommend spending the minimal amount of time on this short that I would be willing to spend watching a whole two hour film. And you should, too!

I wish Don’t Ever Change the best of luck at the Final Girls Berlin Film Festival and hope they rake in the awards!
