A Love Letter to Indie Horror Filmmakers: We Need More Horror Anthologies

I live and breathe indie horror. There’s just something so creatively raw and beautiful about it that makes my icy, black heart beat just a little bit faster. That’s why I enjoy supporting the genre in any way I can. I especially love horror anthologies. What’s better than getting to watch one amazing horror story after another? Nothing, if you ask me.

I grew up on horror anthologies such a Creepshow (1982), Tales from the Darkside (1990), Trilogy of Terror (1975) and, as an adult, Trick R Treat (2007) became my number one. Because who doesn’t love Sam?

Although there are indie horror anthologies out there, we need more, so many more. The indie community is always so supportive of each other, so it would be great to see more filmmakers coming together to create anthologies, whether it’d be something like the critically acclaimed Halloween anthology, 10/31, the renowned Volumes of Blood series, or something similar to 2017’s XX. Either way, horror anthologies are something fun for the fans and filmmakers, and we need MORE.

5 Anthology Ideas I’d Love To See:

Those are just some of my ideas, but I’d love to see any that comes my way. You may wonder why I feel so strongly about this. Well, 10/31 proved to me that, when a group of talented indie filmmakers and crew come together, magic happens, and I want more of it! Each story was creative, fun, and had they each own twists, bringing the life back into Halloween.

Richard Stringham, P.J. Starks, Rocky Gray, Justin Seaman, Zane Hershberger, Brett Dejager, make this happen again! Other filmmakers I would love to see an anthology from are Daniel A Murphy, Jason Horton, Chris MooreShawn Burkett, Anthony Raus, Douglass Epps, Troy Escamilla, and more. The list goes on and on.

What type of anthologies would you like to see from the indie horror community? Post them in the comment section or on our social media accounts, and let me know if you like any of my ideas as well.
