‘SILENT BITE’ (2024) – Blu Ray Review

Recently, I was introduced to actor Simon Phillips through the movie that I reviewed, The Bouncer (read HERE). While looking at his IMDb page, I discovered he wrote and starred in Silent Bite, a Christmas vampire versus bank robber story. I decided to pick up the Blu-ray, which came out November 12th, so I could review it.

Read on for my thoughts.

Synopsis

A gang of bank robbers take shelter in a motel after a Christmas Eve bank heist, unbeknownst to them they are not the most dangerous thing seeking refuge on this cold Christmas night.

Silent Bite was directed by Taylor Martin from a script by Simon Phillips. The film stars Luke Avoledo (Hotel Paranormal), Nick Biskupek (The Mousetrap), Camille Blott, Louisa Capulet (Butchers Book Three: Bonesaw), Sayla de Goede (The Damnation), Dan Molson (What Lurks Beneath), Simon Phillips (The Mouse Trap), Kelly Schwartz (There is a Monster), and Sienna Star (Fear Street: Prom Queen).

While I’m not a fan of Christmas, I am a big fan of Christmas horror movies so Silent Bite seemed right up my alley and it definitely didn’t disappoint. From the animated opening credits, I was sold and from the point the bank robbers arrived at the hotel in Santa, I was hooked. I liked that all the robbers had Christmas related codenames, with their getaway driver being Rudolph and their leader being Father Christmas. I also really enjoyed the cast. Simon Philip was excellent as Father Christmas; he has just enough gruffness to him while also being likable. Luke Avoledo was great as the film’s moral compass, Prancer/Blake. Camille Blott was very sympathetic as Genie, a woman who is in the process of turning who tries to help the gang escape.

I really liked how these were fairly old school vampires and how they looked fairly human other than their fangs and some veins by the eyes. They were definitely a threat but not overly powered and superhuman. It made it more believable that they could be taken out. The film was gory but just enough so to keep things interesting. I really enjoyed how the story played out and kept the characters fairly isolated. I loved the Christmas decor at the hotel; it worked well with the theme of the movie. The Blu-ray is relatively scant on extras containing a photo gallery, trailer and assorted trailers for various other Cleopatra Entertainment titles.

Final Thoughts

Silent Bite is a well-acted Christmas vampire film with fun characters and just enough gore to keep things interesting. Highly recommended.
