5 Reasons Why ‘Halloween’ Is My Favorite Film Of All Time

1.) The Mystique Of Michael Myers

As much as I love the story of John Carpenter’s Halloween, the strongest factor of this film is the mystique of Michael Myers himself. In the beginning, we are given a glimpse of who Michael is and where his initial rampage began, but we are not given a motive for his actions. What’s intriguing is that he wears a clown mask in the beginning, but later on, he switches it out for a blank, white mask instead. What’s mysteriously grim and chilling is the fact that the mask is completely emotionless, so you have no idea what he’s thinking about behind that mask. The reason Michael is so mysterious is because you have no clue if he is an ordinary person, someone you can reason with, or if he’s an indestructible, supernatural force.

Every attribute that Michael carried throughout the film was what helped to build him into the horror icon he is to this day. In my opinion, this is what lifts Halloween up as the greatest horror film of all time.
