Short Film ‘SWEATY LARRY’ Is An Absolute Delight

Being a massive fan of short films, I was thrilled to be offered the chance to review the new film directed by Vanessa Ionta Wright: Sweaty Larry. At a crisp six minutes, this is one of the shortest I’ve reviewed, but it really makes the most of every single second!

Sweaty Larry

Synopsis

Three curious young girls stumble upon an obscure urban legend and dare to summon an entity known as Sweaty Larry. A brand new spin on the Bloody Mary tale that begs the question…why is he so sweaty?

The film stars Haley Leary, Sienna Cheryl Burton, and Victor Rivera as the mysterious Sweaty Larry.

While I really enjoyed the storyline and found it very engaging and fun, what makes this film amazing is the acting. In short films or low budget films sometimes the acting can feel a little forced, but here it flowed so naturally. The standout here is Sienna Cheryl Burton as Amy, who is one breakout role away from true stardom! She was funny, sassy, and even made me consider wasting all that water flushing the toilet multiple times to summon Sweaty Larry.

I’m also giving major credit here to director Wright for guiding her cast to such wry, nuanced performances. This is an incredible gift and I am so excited to see what else she has to show us in the future! If you are able to catch it, I encourage everyone to see it, as these short films are often where great feature filmmakers get their start.

Sweaty Larry is a must see!
