Monster Under the Bed - El & Em's Kid Corner

Review: ‘Monster Under the Bed’ – El & Em’s Kid Corner Series

Filmmaker and Cinematographer Derek Huey hit me up the other day to check out a new series involving his step-daughters. The YouTube series is called El & Em’s Kid Corner and the first episode is titled “Monster Under the Bed.” He was pretty proud of this collaboration but said it was definitely a challenge to work with kids for the first time. I couldn’t wait to check it out.

This episode was co-directed and co-written by Derek Huey (Mrs. Claus, Party Night, Teacher Shortage) and Samantha Marie (Teacher Shortage, Crazed). The cast includes El, Em, and their Mother Samantha.

Synopsis for Monster Under the Bed

In the debut episode of Kid Corner, El and Em discover a monster under their bed and seek help from their Mother. What could go wrong?

This was the cutest little horror story ever. I’m a huge fan of horror shorts and I love the passion that went into this one. Think Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark? but with a younger audience. It totally has that vibe with a super fun atmosphere and the run time is less than 2 minuets!

El and Em are adorable and you could tell they had so much fun filming this. Their fear of the monster under the bed is mixed with excitement and wonder. Their little wicked laughs at the end are perfect.

I’m a huge fan of Derek and Samantha’s previous film work and I’m glad they once again collaborating together. I hope they continue with this series as it’s something light, fun, and refreshing. I, myself, can think of several future episodes they can do with the girl and I can’t wait to see come up with. If you loved it as well: like, comment, and share the video to show your support for El & Em’s Kid Corner!
