*Trigger warning: Children are involved in death scenes*
Blue Murder caught my attention immediately while I was doomscrolling all of these movies that sounded like the usual plot. Listen, don’t judge me, I definitely pay the most attention to Tubi, while mainline streaming apps get old after a while. I keep Shudder around for the sole reasons of Late Night With The Devil and This Is GWAR. Blue Murder made me feel better about just wanting to see silly horror in a world of found footage, and dare I say, artsy. Save that stuff for those old cologne ads that bored an entire generation.
Synopsis
On Halloween a free spirited nurse become possessed with the blood lust of a brutal serial killer who only kills people who deserve it.
The synopsis alone thrilled me and kept me wanting more and more. Blue Murder is one of the movies taken out of the background-noise films I listen to while working, like music, only more distracting. I tend to leave all the films I have seen a hundred thousand times and have taken retirement to a new level. Blue Murder is far beyond a silly B-movie; it’s the ultimate comedy horror of modern times.

No Clowning Around
Some may suggest Art the Clown; however, he doesn’t count because nothing can compare to him. Instead, Blue Murder doesn’t have to use massive amounts of over-the-top gore; even if I live for those types of films, I can understand why some don’t. This film might be a better fit for those who are easily nauseous. I don’t mean that to sound sarcastic, some people just don’t like that type of film.
Blue murder had me cheering for the bad guy, considering all the other characters were jerks who had it coming. One by one, Blue finds the rotten people, the ones at the bottom of the barrel. You can’t help but also believe these people deserve what they had coming. Blue Murder is non-stop fun for all, well, maybe not the kiddos (unless you raised them right).
Blue Murder throws in a bit of horror buffs’ Easter eggs. They are very obvious, but fun when you catch them. The film is a homage to everything I love. I am sure everyone will agree, but PLEASE don’t watch this film if you are uncomfortable with killing children. I agree that sometimes it’s completely traumatic; however, I don’t mind watching people get what they deserve, even kids. Animals are a big no to me, but the film is no-holds-barred; much different from the Terrifier 3 scenes, you didn’t know it was a child.

In The End
All triggers aside, it’s a hell of a fun ride if you can handle it. I am extremely happy that Blue Murder exists. It’s fun and campy, and for me, it hit all the right heartstrings. Sometimes you just have to watch a “sexy nurse” costume, not because it’s sexy, but because it’s brutal, challenging the age-old rules.
I would defend this film right down to my raspy last words.
