My Favorite Horror Movie – Can You Guess What It Is?

What’s my favorite horror movie? There are a plethora of great horror movies, so it makes it hard to name my favorite one. My first exposure to horror was at a young age and my memories are quite vivid of this experience. My oldest cousin was babysitting me and she was watching Friday the 13th Part III. I sat on the couch next to her in awe as Andy walked on his hands and then was cleaved by a man in a hockey mask. This was the start of my love for horror, but it is not my favorite.

Poltergeist was the next horror movie I remember watching as a young child and this one I talked my parents into letting me watch. I was thrilled to watch this movie and was excited about the fear ahead. The backyard of my childhood home was a cemetery, so this movie was quite frightening to me and I loved every minute of it. Yet this still is not my all time favorite horror movie. I feel a little more creativity is in order to describe my all time favorite horror movie, so below is a poem.
Things of nightmares are the eyes of this house.
A death home for flies, too creepy for a mouse.
A gateway to hell is down below,
But only the dog seems to know.
Grow your beard and chop that wood.
You can’t stop the evil, not even with good.
Imaginary friends are not as they appear.
If you hear the name Jody then be struck with fear.
Prayers and religion will not stop the horror of bleeding walls.
Ketchum and kill em is what the evil enthralls.
Murder is what plagues year after year.
Leave this house now or your end is near.
Based on a true story is what they say.
It has spurred remakes and sequels to this day.

The Amityville Horror

Well if you are a true horror fan, you should know I am describing The Amityville Horror. I don’t mean the Ryan Reynolds version. While I appreciate viewing Ryan Reynold’s chiseled abdomen, it does not touch the original horror of the 1979 version. There were spectacular performances by James Brolin and Margot Kidder that could never be topped by any remake. The musical score of the movie is bone chilling and the cinematography was amazing. It is a timeless horror movie masterpiece.
