I have many memories of growing up. Some weren’t that great, but I fell in love with rock and roll. It is like match, kerosene, boom, I am absolutely hooked. So much that I thank my mom and dad. However, when you add AC/DC into the mix, it’s a five-star movie, at least I thought so. I was obsessed with noticing the campiness of it. I was also too young to understand. Over the years, Maximum Overdrive has stayed in my top 20. And that is hard to do because there is a lot of trash out there.
Let’s get into the review.
Synopsis
In a small town and disgruntled, the patrons of a run fown diner and gas station; stick to each other to avoid becoming like the rest of the town. Whe they realize electorincs are fighting backit was too little and too late. The group spends all day defending each others aactions themselves; will the diner stay in tact.
Stephen King directed the film, which stars Emilio Estevez, Pat Hingle, and Yeardley Smith.

The Rundown
Maximum Overdrive scared the crap out of me. I had a lot of nightmares because of it. A lot of people stay dedicated to this film, and I am one of them. Mike learned that it wasn’t real because I was about to hide in our basement. I don’t flex a lot about how much horror I love, but there are plenty of movie memories, and some aren’t so great. I was afraid every moment that something is going to come alive and we would be doomed. Every scene is a perfect setting, even though the film’s sets are minimal. I always respect writers and directors because they know their future.
The film is based on a Stephen King short story, and it made people panicky, knowing that, as far as the movie goes, it may come true one day. And we will be chased by lawn mowers. or fall a hundred feet into the water because the inner mechanics says “let’s get it on!” and makes for one of the greatest movie scenes of all time. The thing is that they didn’t have to spill blood to help people understand the scene and what was going to happen.

A Legend Forever
There are a lot of hyperactive kill scenes, which I wouldn’t call a horror movie; some will tear me apart for saying that. It’s 40 years later, and the film is still admired by the horror community. Though I love the movie, it has me torn. There is a difference here between practical FX and the CGI of today. What we got was already CGI, but it was tasteful; it helped liven up films; now you can tell when a film relies on it.
In The End
In the end, I will always respect this movie for what it is: a cult film I can’t get enough of. These are the memories I have about growing up because my dad and I watched this film any time we saw it, even if it was over and we wanted to stop for a second. There is something in the air that brings me back once in a while. I always think back to the memories, good and bad. It doesn’t matter, because of streaming and 55 million versions of it. It’s a way to feel safe, and I relive all the good times.
