There have been countless movies made about Countess Elizabeth Bathory but there hasn’t been one quite like Blood Bitch Baby, the latest indie horror film from Donald Farmer. Read on for my thoughts.
The Legend of Countess Elizabeth Bathory stretches from 17th century Hungary to modern day America in director Donald Farmer’s Blood Bitch Baby. An unholy pact with Satan has allowed Bathory to survive the centuries as she plots her ultimate triumph – to find the perfect mother for her master’s monstrous offspring.

Blood Bitch Baby was directed by Donald Farmer and written by Farmer and Newt Wallen. The film stars Jessa Jupiter Flux (Murdercise), Angel Nichole Bradford (Coffintooth), Mel Heflin (Night of the Dead Sorority Babes), Claude D. Miles, Joe Casterline, Fallon Vendetta, Madilynn Paige, Jessie Youngs, Ronnie George, Jessie Seitz, Curtis Everett and Kimberly Cole Zemke.
First off, I really love the cast here. Jessa Jupiter Flux is Elizabeth Bathory. The actress plays Bathory as someone who relishes the evil they bring into the world, and she’s definitely fun to watch. Angel Nichole Bradford plays Jenny, a prospective vessel for a demon’s spawn. It’s always a joy watching Angel let loose and that’s no different here. Jenny is someone who is abused and used by the men in her life until things change when she meets Bathory. Seeing the change in Angel’s character was a blast to watch and brings the film some much needed blood and gore.

Mel Heflin plays Iris, Jenny’s new friend that she meets at the dinner. While at first seeming like someone attempting to use Jenny, she shows herself to be a true friend and doesn’t leave when things take a dark turn. I always enjoy Mel’s performance and I really loved her character here. Lastly, we have Claude D. Miles as Professor Claude, a demonologist who tries to warn Jenny. He gives a really funny performance and is a nice source of comedic relief.
I really enjoy the no budget approach that Blood Bitch Baby takes, using low fi puppets for demons. They are simple but effective and able to interact on screen with the cast. The demons are actually kind of cute in a gross way. I also like that we actually got genuine make up effects, courtesy of Jessie Seitz. I’ve seen a lot of indie horror flicks that just splash around a little blood during the kills and call it a day, so it was nice to see such a low budget film makes use of practical makeup and gore.
Final Thoughts
Blood Bitch Baby is a fun little no budget movie with solid performances from a great cast of indie horror veterans. Recommend.
