As a child, I was scared of a lot of things, but nothing scared me more than Bloody Mary. I was absolutely terrified of her and refused to look in mirror for fear that she would get me. To this day, I still have a fear of mirrors.
There are tons of movies about Bloody Mary, but one of the most unique is Chad Hendrick’s Bloody Frickin Mary, a horror comedy take on the story.
Synopsis
Mitzy and Bobby are dating. Mitzy’s parents go out of town, and she throws a slumber party. Booze and board games soon grow boring for Powder, Biggie, Chi Chi and even Mitzy. The girls Google the Legend of Bloody Mary and call her name three times in the bathroom mirror. Nothing happens. Powder and Biggie head outside for a smoke session and are ambushed by Bobby’s friends. But where’s Bobby? Hell, where’s Chi Chi?
This party soon turns killer, as Bloody Mary appears through every mirror in the house. Will anyone make it out alive? How can she be stopped? Well, she can’t kill a virgin. Oh well, I guess they’re all frickin screwed.

Bloody Frickin Mary was written and directed by Chad Hendricks (Kracker Jack’d). The film stars Aniyah Thomas (Find Muck), Whitney Carroll (The Devil Came to Duval), Gwenett Henderson, Pao Portillo, Joshua Newkirk (Pecan Park), Bernard Countryman Jr. (Section 8), Clayton Miller (Black Game Night), Adonijah Malone (Pair o Deez), Kahari Gray (Insane in the Brain), Lynn Jones Turpin (Black Game Night), and Holly Evers Hughes (Find Muck).
I really enjoyed Bloody Frickin Mary. The characters are a lot of fun. Aniyah Thomas plays Mitzy, the good girl. Whitney Carroll plays Biggie, the big girl who is always eating or smoking, sometimes both. Gwenett Henderson plays Powder, the hardcore stoner who is also a cokehead. Pao Portillo plays Chi-Chi, the fiery Latina who is sleeping with her best friend’s boyfriend. The dialogue exchanges between the characters are incredibly funny and is where the movie truly shines and all the actresses give solid performances.

There is lots of stoner humor and sexual innuendos here. There are also scenes from Kracker Jack’d, one of the director’s previous comedy slashers, showing on a TV during the film.
Let’s get to the horror aspects. I liked the look of Bloody Mary. She looks about how you would expect a demon witch to look. She’s played well by Holly Evers Hughes, who makes the character feel fun but also threatening. There are some pretty solid kills and some that are spectacularly gory, with my favorite being a face rip through a pocket mirror.
Final Thoughts
Bloody Frickin Mary is a supernatural slasher film with a heavy emphasis on humor. The jokes, for the most part, land and are effective. There are some solid kills and some decent gore. Overall, the film is a lot of fun. Highly recommended. You can check out Bloody Frickin Mary for free on Tubi.
