Flashback Friday! -‘Friday the 13th’ Edition!

It’s Friday. More specifically, it’s Friday the 13th and sadly we won’t be seeing another Friday the 13th until next year. I decided to keep it simple this Flashback Friday and take a look at Jason Voorhees and the Friday the 13th franchise.

I am a Michael Myers girl all the way. Freddy would be next. To be honest, I didn’t see Friday the 13th until I was an adult. *Gasp* I of course had to rectify that situation immediately. I took a trip to Camp Crystal Lake and binge watched them all. After doing so, I have to admit, Jason Voorhees does have the BEST kills. I also love the opening titles and the music really does add to the experience of watching Friday the 13th.

Here are the trailers for the eight original Friday the 13th films:

The legacy of Jason Voorhees begins with:

Friday the 13th (1980): A group of camp counselors is stalked and murdered by an unknown assailant while trying to reopen a summer camp which, years before, was the site of a child’s drowning.

Flashback Friday-Friday the 13th

From this beginning spawns eight films that include many thrills and kills. The eight films in order:

Friday the 13th (1980)

Friday the 13th-Part II (1981)

Friday the 13th-Part III (1982)

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)

Friday the 13th-A New Beginning (1985)

Friday the 13th Part VI-Jason Lives (1986)

Friday the 13th Part VII-The New Blood (1988)

Friday the 13th Part VIII- Jason Takes Manhatten (1989)

After the eight films, there are three more films. One is the Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993), another Jason X (2002), Jason goes to space and then a cross-over, Freddy vs Jason (2003).  Friday the 13th has so many kills! Some are over the top ridiculous. That is why Jason is so great and fun to watch.

Check out some of the most ridiculous kills here:

In 2009, there was a reboot of Friday the 13th. I love this reboot. If you haven’t seen it, I definitely recommend it!

More recently I absolutely adore and recommend the fan made film, Never Hike Alone (2017). You may read our review here. It is a must watch for any Jason fan out there!

So, which one are you going to watch this Friday the 13th? I am probably going to start at the beginning. I’m pretty stoked, I finally own the franchise on Blu-ray. It will be my first watch on Blu-ray. Today is the day I become Jason’s girl. Tomorrow it’s back to Michael.  Be safe! Stay tuned for more Flashback Fridays right here at PopHorror.
