According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Danny Boyle and Screenwriter Alex Garland are teaming up once more to produce a sequel to their 2002 horror hit 28 Days Later and its 2007 follow-up, 28 Weeks Later. The new project, previously bounced around as 28 Months Later, will be called 28 Years Later.
To say we’re excited about the concept is an understatement. You know how much we love the original (read our retro review here), and the sequel is pretty darned great, too!
The Hollywood Reporter goes on to say that Boyle and Garland shopping the film around to buyers now, and pitching it as the first film in a new trilogy. Now you REALLY have our attention!
But 28 years? How can that be? I guess 2002 *was* almost 28 years ago at this point now that I think about it. That’s crazy. Time flies when you’re running from the infected! Sad that it took 17 years for them to continue the franchise, but better late than never, eh?
What do you think? Are you as excited as we are for 28 Years Later and a possible new trilogy of films in the series? Tell us in the comments!
