9). Hellraiser: Inferno
Hellraiser: Inferno was the first entry in the Hellraiser franchise to go the straight-to-video route. Luckily, that does not make it the worst entry in the series. The movie follows a detective who happens upon the demonic box during the sweep of a crime scene. Of course, like many before him, he can’t help but open it. The rest of the film deals with him facing his demons, so to speak, in all of their grisly glory.
Hellraiser: Inferno and I have quite the complex relationship. I will explain this by describing the timeline of emotions I felt for it. I hated it, I tolerated it, and now I love it. It took a long time for me to understand the emotional awareness this film conveys. While its predecessors dealt with the pain and pleasures of the flesh, this one dealt with the emotional torment that Hell can dole out. If you ask me, that is way more diabolic to humanity than any pain hooked chains can inflict.
You could also make a pretty good case for GINGER SNAPS and THE CELL…
