Not sure about you, but I am always up for religious horror stories. One of my top favorite sub genres of horror in books and movies. The Restless Few, a religious horror book written by James Watjen releases soon from Anuci Press. James Watjen is not only an award-winning indie horror filmmaker (Best First Time Director/Chicago Horror Film Festival 2024), he is also an established horror author (The Vermin Sleep).

INFERNAL SYNOPSIS
The Restless Few follows Father Thomas Abner through his trauma-filled upbringing and into his present religious fervor. Haunted by beings demanding tribute, Father Abner’s mental condition quickly deteriorates and pushes him into a fanatical killing spree that serves to satisfy his goal of eternal salvation.
Part psychological descent, part theological nightmare, this is not a story for the faint of faith.
WHAT EARLY READERS ARE SAYING

-Patrick Barb, author of JK-LOL and Night of the Witch-Hunter
“If you’re not a fan of religious horror. This book will definitely change your mind!”-Shannon Reviews | GoodReads Reviewer

C.D Steele | GoodReads Reviewer
“With a haunting voice and a character who claws at your soul, The Restless Few shows James Watjen is a name to watch in horror.” Christoph Paul, author of Horror Film Poems
AUTHOR’S WORD
The Restless Few is a narrative that invokes a sense of awareness of the lack of separation of mental illness and societal status. The story makes a point to showcase that mental health conditions can affect anyone, no matter their career or religious status. The growing stress and pressure of being called to alleviate others of their worries can also be a catalyst for depression and anxiety among priests and other religious figureheads. Mental health and religion are two areas of life that sometimes have conflicting views of what the definition of sanity is. The Restless Few explores that clashing viewpoint through the lens of Father Thomas Abner and his life.
The Restless Few releases in paperback/ebook on June 13th Bookshop.org, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, HorrorLit.co, and select indie bookstores.
I am definitely adding this one to my TBR. How about you? Are you a fan of religious horror? Will you be adding this to your TBR? Drop us a comment.
