Until writing this article, I’d had no idea that Drew had played in Ken Russell’s sci-fi horror Altered States. In one of her first roles (even before E.T.), Drew portrayed the youngest daughter of Emily and Eddie Jessup (William Hurt, Blair Brown), the scientist couple who get more than they bargained for when they mess with things they don’t understand. This quiet and innocuous role was one that turned the attention of Hollywood toward this bright, shining young star.
