The Many Horrors of ‘Santa Clarita Diet’s’ Drew Barrymore

Scream (1996)

A year after the murder of her mother, a teenage girl is terrorized by a new killer, who targets the girl and her friends by using horror films as part of a deadly game.

Although she could have been cast as Sidney Prescott, the movie’s heroine, Drew instead chose the role of Casey Becker. When she first appeared on the screen, Casey was a character audiences were sure would survive, given Drew’s celebrity status. Once again, they were thrown for a loop when Casey was killed almost immediately. Although it only lasts about ten minutes, Drew’s telephone call with Ghostface became one of the most iconic scenes in horror. Also memorable was the fact that this role helped changed the public’s opinion of Drew from a half-naked partier to a put together grownup.
