Screambox’s ‘CREEPING DEATH’ (2024) – Movie Review

I’m a huge fan of slashers in general, but supernatural slashers just hit different. There is just something about being stalked by something inhuman, something that isn’t alive, that you don’t know how to kill. Recently I got to check out the new supernatural slasher Creeping Death, which will be streaming exclusively on Screambox on September 10th. Read on for my thoughts.

Synopsis

Halloween was always Tim’s favorite holiday – until his mother was diagnosed with cancer. Now, all he wants is a quiet night in. That is quickly disrupted when his friends pay him an unwanted visit after stealing a mysterious sack from the doorstep of a local crazy. This sacrilegious act unleashes the Aos Si, a Celtic spirit that walks the earth on Halloween. They must band together and survive the night or make the ultimate offering… their lives.

Creeping Death was written and directed by Matt Sampere, based on his short film of the same name. The film stars Matt Sampere (That’s a Wrap) Monique Parent (Watch Us Kill), Alan Maxson (Amityville Apt.), Delian Lincourt, Hunter Kohl (Video Vision), Ian Brown, Elise Rackemann (Death Comes to Pushkin), K Cody Hunt, Andy Horowitz (Demon Messenger), Jody Pucello (The Monster Mash) and Scott Lea (Dark Feathers: Dance of the Geisha).

Creeping Death

I really enjoyed Creeping Death. One of the big things that drew me in was the characters. I really liked Matt Sampere’s ‘Tim.’ He’s a teen going through a really rough time with his mother having cancer. He’s kinda the moral anchor of the film. The antithesis to this is Hunter Kohl’s ‘Nate,’ who is really only out for himself. He doesn’t care who dies a long as he survives. He’s the character you love to hate in these type of movies and I was rooting for him to die and that’s before the killer showed up.

Creeping Death

Delian Lincourt’s ‘Danielle’ is Tim’s crush and I liked her a lot. I loved their chemistry and It made me root for them. Her and Elise Rackemann’s ‘PJ’ were the films voice of reason, always pushing the boys to try to do the right thing. Alan Maxson plays Aos Si, our killer and he’s definitely unsettling and a force to be reckoned with. He absolutely decimates the cast in incredibly brutal ways with solid make up effects to back it up. The film films final act is action packed, gory and heartbreaking in all the best ways.

Final Thoughts

Creeping Death is an excellently creepy, gory and action packed supernatural slasher that may just tug at your heartstrings. Highly recommend. Check it out on Screambox September 10th!
