Review: Thoughts On Neal Dhand’s ‘DARK MY LIGHT’ (2025)

Dark My Light (2025) is a new indie thriller from writer and director, Neal Dhand (The Well 2020). The anticipated film is available now on VOD. We got an advanced screening, and PopHorror is here to deliver our thoughts!

First, have a look at the trailer!

Synopsis

Mitchell Morse’s investigation into a serial killer in a sleepy beach town is complicated by a severed foot on the beach, his fracturing relationship with his wife, and his own slipping sanity.

Dark My Light stars Albert Jones (Stay Awake 2022), Keesha Sharp (Titanic 666 2020), and Tom Lipinski (Mercy 2016).

Thoughts

Albert Jones plays a detective named Mitchell who is married to Keesha Sharp’s character, Emily. Tom Lipinski plays Mitchel’s new less than ideal new work partner, Dreyfus. These three actors delivered excellent performances in the film. The onscreen chemistry between Albert Jones and Keesha Sharp is quite outstanding. They captured a balance of strained relationship and hopeless love.

Dark My Light can be best described as a Neo-Noir detective thriller with a sci fi twist. While the sci fi twist was enjoyable, the story took more focus than anticipated. This was probably more because of my mindset going in. I was expecting the typical detective thriller with Dark My Light (2025), but it is much more than that. Once I adjusted my expectations of the story that was enfolding it allowed me to enjoy this film.

Final Thoughts

Neal Dhand delivers a fusion of genres that I have never experienced. Dark My Light (2025) has stunning cinematography that is visually pleasing. The story captures the essence of human vulnerability that creates limitations in a chaotic world. In the end, the final product is exemplary.

Dark My Light released Tuesday, May 6, 2025 to VOD.
