‘NIGHT OF THE DEAD SORORITY BABES’ (2025) – Movie Review

Sorority house horror goes back decades and typifies many classic slasher tropes. While modern horror has taken us to new, sophisticated places, there’s a warmth and a comfort in the tenants of babes, breasts and blood for a lot of hardcore genre fans. Such is the formula in Night Of The Dead Sorority Babes, a 2025 feature film release from Acrostar Films.
Night Of The Dead Sorority Babes is written by Steve Hermann (Disremembered 2024, see our review here) and directed by Hermann and Angel Nichole Bradford (Waspzilla 2024). It stars Lynn Lowry (Shivers 1975), Ann Myrna (It Came From Somewhere 2022), Mia Katz (Desperate Souls 2023), Anna Clary (Mutilator 2 2023), and a bevy of other talented standouts. Truthfully, the list of larkish leading ladies is longer than most indie films, and they’ll all catch the viewers’ attention at different times. The story follows a batch of pretty college coeds looking to pledge a sorority, where the consequences for failing to get in may be fatal.
Night Of The Dead Sorority Babes offers a balance between fun 80s fare and a bunch of characters with genuine stories. The movie forgoes a lot of horror hijinks in the first half to spend time with each pledge and get to know their inner turmoil. While some genre fans may call that a “slow burn”, it’s a wonderful peek behind their exterior curtains to unveil real humans with real insecurities. Their conversations are meaningful, so that when the carnage does ensue, the viewers care for the protagonists.
The gore is wonderful during the moments of isolation, and the specialized lighting conditions the audience to expect violence. But the biggest star here is the acting. Lynn and Ann really relish their time together as witches, and Mia has such conviction as the bossy pledge host. Each of the pledges start as caricatures but have many redeeming moments as they get to know each other’s vulnerability.
Some of the love connections feel a bit rushed in the brief time that the events take place, and a couple of the decisions in the final act will leave fans debating. But these are some of the things that separate Night Of The Dead Sorority Babes from the other movies of its kind, and that’s a great thing.
