If you want blood, you got it! Natasha Tosini’s ‘BLOODLINE OF BATHORY’ (2026)

Natasha Tonisis film Bloodline of Bathory gave me an experience that felt alive in the current horror universe. With current and age-old kill scenes, the genre would be run by artistic abominations. Bloodline of Bathory gives that legendary and horrifying fable a new vision. We all remember running like hell when someone said the famous words in the mirror. I will admit, it really did scare the pants off me sometimes.

Let’s get into the review.

Synopsis

While teenagers rent out the home of Elizabeth Bathory, reduced to a house that still stood that after the castle crumbled with old age and no maintencae. Soon they are all terorized by Elizabeth themselves. The situation ony intensifies when the queen is set free, ready to terrorize her intruders, and a big secret looming over them.

The Rundown

I highly respect the person who thought this was a good plan. It wasn’t a good plan; it was the perfect plan. The film knew how to reach deep inside your mind and trigger the idea that maybe you weren’t so safe, maybe it wasn’t just a folk tale, which gets boring. Normally, I automatically pass on the UK horror scene. I was expecting some lame dialogue and one giant unanswered question you have to sort through. A trailer wasn’t available, so I was a little leery, but I am glad I didn’t miss out on this film. I guess that’s why they say never trust a film by its premise.

Bloodline of Bathory has a lot of that shoutout to early slashers. The queen spoke, and no one took her warning. Ms. Bathory walks all over the ancient tale. Kids on camping trips and sleepovers heard this story to sleep with one eye open, and never look in the mirror. The scenes were a little cringeworthy, and you feel it in your bones. The acting was a little off, but I don’t judge by that. I form my opinion without bias. Bloodline of Bathory will have you asking what the hell is going on. However, if you know what to expect, everything turns basic and boring.

Being Hungarian myself, this was a trip to a place I don’t really wish to visit. That part of the backstory stayed true, and I love that. It hits just as hard as watching someone, so afraid of their expiration date that they take extremely brutal ways to stay young. I didn’t really resonate with that part, because honestly, if my eyes meet her gaze, I’m peeing myself and running away, defeating her purpose, she wouldn’t want my tainted blood anyway

In The End

In the end, I was fully invested in this story, and I wish all UK horrors hit me the same way. The presentation was absolutely beautiful, even if there aren’t too many filming locations. I saw it in the way that Bloodline of Bathory was a really good choice to take on. I may not have known much, and maybe that was for the best.

This is my hope for more good things from across the pond to enjoy.
