Stalker is an attack on the senses that I didn’t see coming. I am a big grouch when it comes to foreign films. Maybe I sound a bit like a caveman here, but I feel like subtitles take away the movie magic. This isn’t an attack on foreign films; I could never get interested and found myself frustrated so many times, and feeling like I belonged at the bottom of the totem pole for that opinion. However, Stalker is not a film that fits that mold. Instead, Stalker uses the element of true fears for people.
Let’s get into the review.
Synposis
After a vicious assault at a party, a young woman flees the scene. And as she walks back home on a gloomy and threatening Paris night, she can’t shake the feeling that she’s being followed. As she gets closer to her residence, the presence becomes more and more bold and aggressive, And it is only by confronting her deepest inner fears that she will be able to survive the ominous threat

The Rundown
The trick about Stalker is that the film constantly plays with some of our deepest fears. Every woman who has ever had to walk alone through a parking garage is noticed here. I feel like just that fact alone creeped me out more than anything. I am a horror hound, but I’m also the one to turn a light off and run to my bed before the imaginary shadow person gets me. The film taps into all of your senses, including smell, just by the cameraman’s shots. You can find yourself in this situation and try to survive next to her.
Obviously, there are parts of this film that seem a little over the top, but that’s not true at all. The entire film seemed as if it were a Silent Hill movie without the drawn-out story. The monster is even creepier than a man. You will find yourself trying to hide from his heavy footsteps. Another point of the film I like is that it can terrify you without dialogue. It is like a modern silent film, no subtitles needed. The story immediately draws you in because even without words, we still have feelings, and fear is a feeling.
The only thing I thought was lacking was a bit more shots of the monster as a man. Other than that, this is top tier for the type of movies I am into. Stalker doesn’t take a whole lot of thought; as a matter of fact, there is no time to think. The film takes you on a wild ride through the horrors of the night.
In The End
I thoroughly enjoyed this film, though it’s only 18 minutes; you can’t tell because you will blink and miss a good scene. Stalker is like a speeding bus that knows all your fears. The film relies on the fact that you can’t turn away once you begin. I will forever be uncomfortable in the dark after watching this film.
I suggest the film to anyone who wants to kill some time in a great way. Stalker isn’t average; it isn’t completely untrue. Don’t ask yourself what the story is in the long run; you can walk away with your own opinion.
