Coyote Vs Acme is the funniest movie of the year, which is a total surprise knowing the infamous decision by WB to shelve this project years ago. Thanks to Ketchup Entertainment, we finally get to see the finished product, and it’s fantastic. It’s one of those movies that makes you wonder how something this entertaining could have almost never seen the light of day. After all the controversy surrounding the film, it’s nice to finally have the opportunity to experience what could have easily been another forgotten Looney Tunes project.
The Looney Tunes have a historic backstory in Hollywood on both the big screen and small screen. These characters have been around for generations and continue to find ways to entertain audiences of all ages.
Coyote Vs Acme understands what makes these characters so timeless without trying to completely reinvent them. It knows that the humor comes from the characters, the physical comedy, and the ridiculous situations they constantly find themselves in. The real standout here is Will Forte, who brings a lot of heart and comedic timing to the film.
Forte understands how to play the more grounded side of the story while still allowing the craziness of the Looney Tunes world to take over. His performance gives the movie an emotional center that helps separate it from a traditional cartoon adventure. John Cena also has a great time playing the villain working for the antagonists at Acme Corporation. Cena continues to show how good he can be with comedy while still being able to play a larger-than-life character.
Coyote is still chasing the Road Runner and gets fed up with how many times the equipment has blown up in his face time and time again. That simple idea is expanded into a much bigger story while keeping the original spirit of the character alive. The constant failures of Wile E. Coyote have always been one of the funniest parts of Looney Tunes, and seeing that same humor translated into a live-action movie works surprisingly well.
There are plenty of cameos from your favorite Looney Tunes characters, making this one of the best Looney Tunes adventures since the original Space Jam movie came out. The movie feels like a celebration of these characters without becoming completely dependent on nostalgia. It gives longtime fans plenty to enjoy while also making the story accessible for people who may not have grown up watching these cartoons.
It’s one that demands to be seen with a crowd, whether it be at a drive-in or a traditional theater.

The jokes, physical comedy, and ridiculous situations are even better when you can hear an audience laughing along with you. Coyote Vs Acme once again proves how timeless the Looney Tunes really are. After everything this movie went through to finally reach audiences, it’s even more satisfying knowing that the finished product is something worth celebrating.
