Cleanin’ Up The Town: Remembering Ghostbusters

Synopsis:

Cleanin’ Up The Town: Remembering Ghostbusters is the definitive documentary charting the making of the iconic film that inadvertently changed the film industry forever. Featuring interviews with Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson and including never-before seen footage. The documentary hallmarks the extraordinary achievements made for the era, and emphasizes just how ambitious an undertaking the making of Ghostbusters really was.

My Thoughts:

Ghostbusters is a movie I can still remember watching for the first time. It was unique and something that we had never seen before. The creatures and all the special effects were amazing. The film holds up after all these years, and I still give it a watch often. So when I found out about Cleanin’ Up The Town: Remembering Ghostbusters, I knew I had to see it.

I wasn’t disappointed by this documentary in the slightest. It is well thought out and no details were left out. I learned so much about Ghostbusters that I never knew, starting with how Dan Aykroyd got the inspiration to write the movie because of his great-grandfather who was both a dentist and paranormal researcher. I also never realized that Ghostbusters wasn’t expected to be as successful as it was. It was cool to hear about who was supposed to be cast and who made the actual final cut. The interviews throughout the film are from so many and represent the film in everyway, including actors, producers, special effect crew members, and composers. It was great to see the representation, because all of these aspects of the film are vital to it being a success.

The special effects segments were fascinating to watch. The time, effort, and dedication of these workers is inspiring. The process is just wow! The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man… the construction and the story behind that is crazy! Loved learning about all the effects!

Cleanin’ Up The Town: Remembering Ghostbusters

Final Thoughts:

Cleanin’ Up The Town: Remembering Ghostbusters is a must watch for Ghostbusters fanatics. It not only has all the nostalgic feels, it is a ultimate look into the film from all aspects. It’s a film that I’ll be watching again to catch things I probably missed the first time around. There is just so much information packed in this film.  Be sure to check it out! The film is available to stream now.
