It’s time to admit we are a nation in crisis, not politically, but socially. Politicians aren’t talking politics; they are openly either complaining or supporting social issues. It’s easy to notice where I stand on the issues. We are all human, and we all deserve respect for who we are, not what we stand for. Auberi’s An American Pastoral hits these issues hard. The film was an eye-opener for me to an up-front battle between what we learned, and what we think.
Let’s get into the review because there is a lot to say.

Synopsis
An American Pastoral presents issues in a rural town and left wing or wight wing response to a cancelled opportunity for kids to learn on their own. The film present issues such as gun control, book bans, school board battles and more, and all other hot button issues.
Auberi Edler wrote and directed the film. It stars James C. Emery, Kristy Moore, and Tina M. Wilson.

In Our Blood
I live in rural Pennsylvania, so I definitely relate to and know Elizabethtown somewhat well. In my town, there is a gas station, and four bars where locals wither away. This is how it is in rural towns all over the nation. An American Pastoral opened my eyes to a lot of behind-the-scenes issues in political banter. The film is full of respectful debate, not civilians going bonkers on each other because we don’t follow the same path. America is definitely unsure of the future of our nation.
A big issue in our school system is that it is totally broken due to the political divide. Books that we have read as far back as when I was in school. Though you can find the book in libraries, that is the main argument for the right-wing candidates. The film shows how well we exploit issues for political theater. On the other side of the fence, their argument is that these were all books we have read in school for many years. To the left-wing candidates, their main talking point is that these books were suddenly preyed upon by arguments brought on in 2015 and our current point in history.
When will we stop fighting over petty issues that don’t matter in the end? Americans have become sponges to 24-hour news networks. Those networks are in charge of presenting you with either side of the journalist’s views, which normally end in chaos. Our country has seen it many, many times over the past few years. The film also raises gun control issues. The topic brings a heated, but respectful, one. The debates raised a lot of issues with guns that I agree with. However, this is one more topic in the town that people definitely do not agree on.

In The End
In the end, I know where I stand in history, because to both sides, we are the future of whatever they plan. An American Pastoral was a very moving story to see the debates beyond the protesters, hateful rhetoric, fighting, and all else that seems to be ignored these days. We have conquered a lot in our nation. Including fighting over civil rights and immigration issues for European immigrants, when everyone flocked to the United States for safety. Things like this have always existed, but with social media, all bets are off. That’s our society’s downfall.
Other countries see us fight each other over the way we stand on slavery issues, on top of a lot of other reasons, such as attacks on an innocent town. We may never see eye to eye, but that’s beyond the point. We are supposed to think differently, back our different candidates and the hold that the blue and red have on our towns and cities.
