I can never pass up a Halloween-centered movie, so as soon as I heard about Adam Sandler’s Hubie Halloween coming to Netflix, I couldn’t wait to see it!
This film was directed by Steven Brill with a story co-written by Tim Herlihy and Adam Sandler. Sandler also stars in the film Kevin James, Julie Bowen, Ray Liotta, Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Maya Rudolph, Tim Meadows, June Squibb, George Wallace, Kenan Thompson, Ben Stiller, and more!
Synopsis for Hubie Halloween
Despite his devotion to his hometown of Salem (and its Halloween celebration), Hubie Dubois is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike. But this year, something is going bump in the night, and it’s up to Hubie to save Halloween.
I didn’t go into this film thinking it would be fantastic and groundbreaking. I just wanted something fun and cute and that’s actually what I got. It’s an adorable Halloween comedy. It reminded me of a new age version of Earnest Scared Stupid, which is one of my favorite Halloween movies ever. They’re similar in the sense that both star a character who is the underdog and everyone makes fun of them. Both are good guys but they’re not taken seriously. That is until it comes down to them saving Halloween.
It was really fun to see a bunch of familiar faces like Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Julie Bowen, Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Maya Rudolph, and Tim Meadows. I also loved seeing some unexpected actors like Kenan Thompson and Ray Liotta. The younger cast was equally great especially Noah Schnapp and Paris Berelc – I loved their characters! I could tell everyone had a blast doing this film and I can only imagine what it was like on set!
I loved the overall aesthetic and atmosphere of the film. It felt like Halloween. It made me feel like a kid again and want to go trick r treating, bob for apples, and drive around looking at all the Halloween decorations. The music was also great and perfect for the film – you can never go wrong with the MONSTER MASH!
Final Thoughts
This is a family fun Halloween movie that everyone can enjoy. Be sure to check out Hubie Halloween on Netflix this spooky season!
