The Shed was one of my most anticipated films of the year and let’s just say it didn’t disappoint. From the moment I saw the trailer, I knew this was going to be good. RLJE Films never fails to surprise me.
This new film was directed and written by Frank Sabatella. The cast includes Jay Jay Warren, Cody Kostro, Sofia Happonen, Timothy Bottoms, Siobhan Fallon Hogan, and Frank Whaley.
Synopsis for The Shed
Stan and his best friend Dommer have put up with bullies their entire lives. All of that changes when Stan discovers he has a murderous vampire living in his shed. Seeing the bloodshed and destruction the monster is capable of, Stan knows he has to find a way to destroy it. But Dommer has a much more sinister plan in mind.
I love a good vampire film and The Shed is exceptional. It’s a very unique story with a well-written and intriguing script. The acting is phenomenal, the blood and gore is top notch, and the soundtrack is the cherry on top of it all.
Everyone hates bullies and secretly we all wish they would get what’s coming to them. In The Shed, bullies get a taste of their own medicine and more. But unfornantly, it’s not just the bullies that are being killed. No one is safe. There’s a blood-thirsty monster in the shed and must be stopped… but how?
Jay Jay Warren is phenomenal in this film and delivers a killer performance. Despite all the obstacles life has thrown at him, Warren’s character still remains kind and wants to do the right thing. Cody Kostro’s character is one of my favorites. He brings a much needed comical relief and I can relate to his pain and need for revenge. Then there’s newcomer Sofia Happonen – she is a fantastic actress. Her character turns out to be a little badass and takes charge when shit hits the fan.
If you enjoy bloodshed, The Shed, delivers plenty to satisfy your hunger. This vampire doesn’t just like sucking your blood, but rather enjoys ripping bodies apart. Limbs everywhere. Along with this, I really enjoyed the soundtrack which went perfectly with the rage and moody tone/atmosphere of the film.
Final Thoughts
Frank Sabatella is a brilliant director and writer and created something quite unique and fun with The Shed. It recently hit Theaters, Digital, and On Demand – November 15, 2019. I highly recommend checking it out as soon as possible.
