In the last week, I’ve watched two horror films centering around a babysitter. However, that was definitely the only thing they had in common. One of them was Feeding Time, a horror short that premiered at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival on October 15th. Was it a tasty treat or I was I left unsatisfied?
Feeding Time was directed and written by Matt Mercer. The horror short stars Graham Skipper, Stacy Snyder, and Najarra Townsend.
Official Synopsis:
When a young woman fills in for her friend on a babysitting job, she begins to suspect things are not as they seem. She’s right.
Feeding Time was pure fun and absolute insanity. From the moment the babysitter arrives, you know something is not right with the parents and that chaos is soon to unfold. It’s great storytelling with a bit humor and horror mixed in.
The parents seem innocent and welcoming, right? Don’t let their smiles fool you, because under those goggles is something far more menacing than the LASIK eye surgery they are claiming. Regardless of being a bunch of weirdos, they were oddly charming and one of the best parts of the short.
Stacy Synder plays the babysitter. I love how she doesn’t just give up once she finds out who she really is “babysitting.” Let’s just say she doesn’t go down without a fight.
I wouldn’t consider this film scary or heavily bloody (although there is some), but it definitely has some intense moments. It’s mostly just good old-fashioned fun, reminiscent of horror classics like Gremlins and Critters.
Final Thoughts:
Feeding Time is the perfect popcorn flick and I think it will appeal to all fans of the genre. Be sure to check it out when you can… just make sure to eat beforehand!
