Brian Yuzna and John Penney Launch Distro Co. Dark Arts Entertainment

Genre vets Brian Yuzna (ReAnimator, Society, Suitable Flesh) and John Penney (Hellgate, Return of the Living Dead 3) are launching a new distribution company called Dark Arts Entertainment that will provide a new outlet for horror filmmakers and lend their combined genre experience to a new generation!

Partnering with MVD Visual, Dark Arts Entertainment will operate with an eye on distributing frightning fare to North America, according to their joint press release:

“This exciting new venture promises to bring a fresh perspective to the genre, delivering quality, marketable features and multimedia projects tailored to today’s discerning horror audience.”

John Penney stated,

“I’m excited by this new step that Dark Arts Entertainment is taking into distribution. We are always looking for emerging genre filmmakers with films that can be shaped for marketplace success. This new partnership with MVD is the perfect fit for our expanding endeavor.”

Eric D. Wilkinson, Director of Acquisitions for MVD, added,

“Having survived my youth on a steady diet of Brian’s and John’s films in the 80’s and 90’s during my countless trips to the video store, I cannot express my excitement enough to be working with two of the greatest legends of genre films. One of their first releases will be Terror Firma from writer/director Jake MacPherson, in his feature directorial debut (street date: 8/27/24 on digital, Blu-ray, and DVD… look for a review soon at Pophorror.com!). The film, starring Max Carpenter (Scars), Faye Tamasa (All Souls) and Robert Brettenaugh (Acts of Revenge), looks like a topical, brutal, Lovecraftian ride!

Synopsis

After a mysterious batch of seeds arrive at their home threatening to change the course of existence, Lola, a struggling artist, is forced to fight through it with her brother, Louis and defend herself from his unbalanced roommate, Cage–all the while navigating a surreal landscape of internal and external danger.

Horror fans, rejoice! A distribution company run by genre legends, catering to fans of fright is good news indeed! Can we expect some of the same type of gonzo, body horror that Yuzna is known for? One can only hope…
