Kuchisake-Onna
This legend comes from none other than Japan and is about Kuchisake-Onna, the evil spirit of a women who wears a surgical mask. She appears and asks you, “Am I pretty?” If you say no, she kills you on the spot. If you say yes, she removes the surgical mask to reveal scars like the Joker, and then asks, “How about now?” If you say no, she cuts you in half, but if you say yes, she slits your mouth to look like hers. People were so scared of this tale that they were sending their school children home in pairs so they didn’t get attacked.
