Suicide Puppets: An Interview With Veritas

Suicide Puppets are quickly climbing the ranks of their music featured in movies and more. With a strong industrial sound, they create something different for every album and most songs. The sound is hard to explain, but appealing. Suicide Puppets are a flashback to acts like Bile And KMFDM. I love the idea of an industrial music revolution, I miss it.  Industrial has faded into things like Dub Step, but a handful of bands are still true to the ’90s style when industrial took off.

We got to sit down with Veritas the drummer for Suicide Puppets and ask a few questions.

Left to right: Steven Suicide (lead guitar, Twisty Suicide(vocals), Jonny Suicide(bass), Veritas Suicide(drums), Invictus Suicide(Guitar), Z Suicide (guitar)

PopHorror: Your name rings tones of Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, was that the inspiration? How long has the band been together?

Veritas: Sadly no, We found our name out of a random generator

PopHorror: How long has the band been together?

Veritas: Roughly 15 years

PopHorror: Which horror movies can we find your work in coming up?

Veritas: You can find our music in “The Boy From Below” “Skate to Hell” “Death Woods” and “Blood on the Bleachers” All of the movies will be available by the end of the year.

PopHorror: Each band member has their look, are they character-driven or just part of the effect?

Veritas: Originally just for the effect but each has become our stage personality.

PopHorror: You are based in Pennsylvania which has always had a lively metal scene, Where is your favorite venue to play in the local scene?

Veritas: Lovedraft’s Brewing is hands down the best venue. The overall vibe is meant for bands like us.  Plus the venue has great sound.

PopHorror: Do you have any plans of touring soon or only locally?

Veritas; We have a few local shows lined up currently. On April 27th we are playing the Launch Fest in Lancaster, PA, on June 21st we are playing The Ritz in Scranton, PA, on June 26th we play the Racehorse Tavern in Thomasville, PA, on November 8th-10th we will be at The Monster Mania Convention.  There is also a tour possibly lurking in the shadows.

PopHorror: What was the main inspiration for the band’s sound?

Veritas; The main inspiration comes from industrial music, but we take on many forms. The last EP “Below the Veil” featured orchestral parts, by the talented, Frank Dormani, which was a new thing for us, but we love how it turned out.

PopHorror: What can we look forward to in 2024?

Veritas: We plan on going into the studio for an EP release this year, there is also a possible tour.

PopHorror: How many members make up the band?

Veritas: 6 currently.

PopHorror:  Do you have songs dedicated to some of your favorite movies?

Veritas: None are “officially” dedicated, but for me, they are all based on classic horrors like Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street.

Thanks for taking the time to chat with us! Check out the band and their music over at Band Camp!
