Say His Name: Official Trailer 2 for Nia DaCosta’s ‘Candyman’

One of my most anticipated films this year is hands down Nia DaCosta’s Candyman. I love the original film and everything about it. Nia directed the film and wrote the screenplay alongside Jordan Peele and Rosenfeld. The story is based on the 1992 film from Bernard Rose and Clive Barker’s characters. It stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Colman Domingo, Kyle Kaminsky, Vanessa Williams, Rebecca Spence, and more. The second official trailer dropped today and it looks awesome. See for yourself!

Synopsis for Candyman

A “spiritual sequel” to the horror film Candyman (1992) that returns to the now-gentrified Chicago neighborhood where the legend began.

Based on this trailer alone, the cinematography, lighting, and performances look stunning. The atmosphere is grim and terrifying. I can’t wait to see this film! Candyman returns to theaters on August 27, will you dare speak his name?
