Mr. Buzzkill

Rob Collins’s ‘MR. BUZZKILL’ (2025) – Movie Review

I’ve been following Concept Media and Shawn Burkett since Don’t Fuck in the Woods back in 2016. They always deliver great horror films on a budget. Recently I had the chance to check out their latest film Mr Buzzkill. Read on for my thoughts.

Synopsis

Years ago, the small town of Silver Grove witnessed a massacre like no other and the legend of Mr. Buzzkill was born. Today, a group of friends are about to meet the ultimate party crasher – and slasher.

Mr Buzzkill was directed by Rob Collins from a script he wrote with Shawn Burkett (Don’t Fuck in the Woods). The film stars Celeste Blandon (Phantom Fun-World), Kaylee Williams (The Barn 2), Brittany Blanton (Don’t Fuck in the Woods), Jason Crowe (Coffintooth), Joey Mann (The Boy From Below), Anson Day (Arena Wars), Jake Kopronica (Deathwoods), Stephen J. Hodke (Don’t Fuck in the Woods 2), Mike Pleska (Stranded), Emily McAnulty (New Fears Eve), Payton Pleska (Stranded) and Shawn Burkett.

I absolutely loved Mr Buzzkill. The film is set in 3 different time periods and I know that sounds like a lot, but it works perfectly. It was cool to see the origin of Mr Buzzkill as a killer and watch him evolve over time. I loved getting to see so many Concept Media veterans come back again. It was a joy seeing Brittany Blanton, Kaylee Williams and Jason Crowe here. Brittany is great as always. Kaylee’s characters was super fun and has wonderful dialogue filled with innuendos. Jason Crowe is absolutely hilarious, especially when he’s singing about getting high.

The film has a wonderful sense of humor. I frequently found myself cracking up. Don’t take that to mean the film skimps on the horror. There are tons of kills, with the majority of them being pretty gruesome and all practical. If I had any complaints it would be that the ending feels very abrupt and does a little more telling than showing but it also seems to set up a sequel so hopefully we get that and it fills in some of the gaps.

Final Thoughts

Mr Buzzkill is a hilarious and gruesome indie slasher that is well worth your time. Highly recommended.
