Found Footage Possession Film ‘8ight After’ (2020) is Nightmare Fuel – Movie Review

“From acclaimed filmmaker/editor Vince Rocca (The Ghostmaker) comes the unholy hybrid of Modern Family and Paranormal Activity that blends family drama, unspeakable horrors, and undying love with a mix of social media into a pulse-pounding supernatural mystery.” I loved everything about 8ight After and it’s one of the best made supernatural and found footage films ever. Not only did Vince create this film, but he also stars alongside his wife Deanna Rocca (Kisses and Caroms).

Synopsis for 8ight After

Chronicling the true story of demonic possession in 2019, reality television editor Vince Rocca kept a diary that focuses on his wife, Deanna, a zoo veterinary technician, who becomes increasingly possessed by a ghost. The loving couple never knew the prior horrors that occurred in their home – a man had once murdered his wife before taking his own life in their house. Vince must now rescue Deanna from her unspeakable fate, and the drama that ensues is gripping and unfailingly terrifying.

Do I believe in ghosts? Yes. Have I ever seen one? No. But I’m open to the possibility of anything. If I see it with my own eyes, I’m more likely to be convinced. 8ight After had me more convinced than I’ve ever been before and I wasn’t even there. The quality of everything just made it feel like you were experiencing everything with them and it was terrifying. Let’s just say if I’m ever doing home renovations, I won’t be opening any mysterious boxes that I find.

Where the magic happens aka ghosts.

This film is pure nightmare fuel and you can feel the fear, confusion, and strain it put on their relationship. The questions arise like: Is my partner going crazy? Is this house haunted? Is my wife haunted? Does he believe me? Luckily, Vince and Deanna are a great team, and even during what I assume is one of the scariest times of their lives, they overcame it and are probably even stronger for it.

Everything about 8ight After was great and it delivered on all aspects but one of the most important parts was the quality of the film. It’s shot well, you can follow the chronological order of everything that is happening with ease, and you can sense the fear and dread looming in the air from the wicked imagery and perfect lighting, which creates an overall chilling atmosphere.

Final Thoughts

I truly can’t recommend this film enough. If you love ghost stories, if you love films about possession, if you enjoy well-made found footage films… this one is for YOU! 8ight After is now available to watch on Amazon!
