John Carpenter’s ‘THE THING’ (1982) Returning To Theaters

Many consider John Carpenter’s THE THING (1982) to be one of the greatest horror films of all time. It’s my favorite. It’s Seth’s favorite, too (read his tribute here)! The film turns 40 years old this month, if you can believe it? The film’s age means a lot of us, including myself, have never gotten the chance to see it on the big screen. That’s tragic! Well, I’ve got some good news. Carpenter’s masterpiece is heading to theaters in June for just a couple of shows. Now is our chance to FINALLY see it on the big screen!

When and how can you see it? Read on to find out!

From THE THING (1982) Fathom Events Website

Director John Carpenter (Halloween) teams Kurt Russell’s outstanding performance with incredible visual effects to create a chilling version of the classic The Thing. Set in the winter of 1982 at a research station in Antarctica, a twelve-man research team finds an alien being that has fallen from the sky and has remained buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Soon it is unfrozen and unleashed, creating havoc and terror as it changes forms and becomes one of them.

This special event will also feature the Terror Takes Shape documentary!

Fathom Events is showing The Thing (1982) on Sunday, June 19th (Father’s Day!) and Wednesday, June 22nd.

A July 6th show has also been added. Get the details and show times and tickets at the Fathom Events website!
