Interview With ‘Depraved’s’ Addison Timlin

I was thrilled when I found out I was getting the chance to interview Depraved’s Addison Timlin. While talking to her, I realized right away that she is a very graceful and down to earth woman. We talked about what inspired her to become an actress, her roles in two Larry Fessenden (read our interview with him here) projects, the history of Frankenstein’s monster in film, and her time spent with the late Anton Yelchin on the set of Odd Thomas (2013).

PopHorror: Thanks so much for taking the time to talk with us, Addison! What got you interested in Larry Fessenden’s film, Depraved?

Addison Timlin: I’d worked with Larry [in Robert Mocklear’s 2017 film, Like Me] before. I am a such a big fan of him and all of that he’s done.

Larry Fessenden and Addison Timlin

PopHorror: Did you have a favorite moment while reading the script?

Addison Timlin: Well, my favorite part of any script is where I can imagine myself playing in it.

PopHorror: Was there any scene in the film that was difficult for you to shoot?

Addison Timlin: Well, yeah. It was really cold every night, so that was tough. But Larry likes to keep it light around the work place.

PopHorror: Frankenstein stories have been done a lot in the history of film. Did you see anything in Depraved that was fresh?

Addison Timlin: Yeah. I liked the way Larry kept it emotionally driven and grounded. I think that’s what I appreciated the most about Larry’s project.

Addison Timlin and Anton Yelchin

PopHorror: Was there anything similar in your preparation for Depraved compared to another horror project you were in called Odd Thomas?

Addison Timlin: Well, I never thought of Odd Thomas as horror. I would more say that it lands in the thriller genre. Because of the specificity of the Dean Koontz book, the character was already created for me. And, working with Anton made is simpler for me.

PopHorror: That was going to be my next question. How was it working with Anton Yelchin?

Addison Timlin: It was the best! Anton was an incredible actor, but even more so, a better person. I miss him every day. The art he was creating was pure magic.

PopHorror: I also wanted to ask: did you have have any experiences in your life that got you into acting?

Addison Timlin: Well, I started acting at a very young age, and I knew it was something I wanted to do.

PopHorror: Do you have a favorite horror movie?

Addison Timlin: Hmm… Not really. Although I really do enjoy The Shining and the IT remake that came out a few years ago or a couple years ago. I enjoyed that a lot.

We want to send a great big THANK YOU to Addison Timlin for taking the time to chat with us. A review of her film, Depraved, will be up very soon, so keep your horror-loving eyes peeled!
