Ashleigh Morghan

Interview with Ashleigh Morghan, Star of ‘Head Count’

This year is full of great horror… if you know where to look. One of my recent favorites is Head Count, which stars Ashleigh Morghan. She’s an incredibly talented actress and killed it with her performance in this film. I was lucky enough to chat with Ashleigh about why she wanted to be an actress, her career, how this role came about for her, and more.

The film releases in Theaters, On Demand and Digital June 14, 2019!

PopHorror – Hi Ashleigh, it’s great to talk with you! How long have you wanted to be an actress and what inspired you to do so?

Ashleigh Morghan – Hi!! Thank you for taking your time to talk to me. I’ve wanted to be an actress since I was in college. When I was younger, I aspired to be a teacher and then a marine biologist. I was inspired to do acting when I was in High School. I was in drama class and performed in the HS musicals. I really enjoyed it. but never really thought I could make a career out of it until I went to college and took theater classes.

PopHorror – Sounds like that is when you found your calling. What was your first film you worked on?

Ashleigh Morghan – The first film I worked on I was in extra in this film called Fun Size. It was my first time ever being on set and I was SUPER nervous but also just grateful to be learning set etiquette on a real movie set.

PopHorror – Oh I know what film you’re talking about. That’s so cool! Do you think you’d ever like to direct someday?

Ashleigh Morghan – I would LOVE to direct. I am interested in all facets of creating film – writing, directing, producing.

PopHorror – I hope to see you conquer them all! Your upcoming film Head Count is a horror thriller and I really loved it. Do you enjoy this genre? If so, what is your favorite horror film?

Ashleigh Morghan – I do like horror films. I’m not a fan of the Conjuring/ghost movies but I LOVE monster movies. Some of my favorites are Carrie, Alien, It, Underworld, The Thing, A Quiet Place, The Lost Boys, and Signs.

PopHorror – You have great taste. Can you tell the readers about the film?

Ashleigh Morghan – This film is about nine teenagers that take their annual hiking trip up to Joshua Tree. The lone one out, Zoe, takes a liking into a boy she sees, Evan, while snapping pictures in the desert. Zoe convinces Evan to join her friends and while sharing horror stories, Evan accidentally conjures a shape shifting entity that once awakened has to perform a deadly routine.

PopHorror – How did this role come about for you?

Ashleigh Morghan – I saw this role, FKA Hisji, and was intrigued by the name. Once I auditioned I realized it was horror film and I’d never done a horror film so I wanted to give it a try. After becoming more familiar with the script and the character of Zoe I really felt we had the same essence and I felt really drawn to her.

PopHorror – You were perfect in it. Could you relate to your character at all?

Ashleigh Morghan – Yes. Zoe and I are very similar. A little shy but not afraid to speak our minds. Open and friendly with a creative eye.

PopHorror – Do you have a favorite scene?

Ashleigh Morghan – Any of the scenes when the whole cast was together. I really enjoyed performing with them. Everyone has their own cool unique personality and together it was just amazing. But I also liked the scene where I jump off the clip. It looks really cool on camera.
