FOLLOWER (2022) Synopsis
Based on a disturbing true story that occurred in Northern Nevada in 2018. Centered around an aspiring social media influencer and her two friends, who, while on their annual backpacking trip on a popular hiking trail, became the targets of a violent mass killer. Seeking internet fame within a dark web incel group, the killer live-streamed himself as he hunted down the girls and anyone else who got in his way. Further pushing the envelope, FOLLOWER has an interactive element built-in, which allows the viewer the opportunity to follow the characters in real life.
James Rich directed the film, which he co-wrote with Zachary Hersh, based on a story by Serena Kamlani, James Rich, and Zachary Hersh. It stars Revell Carpenter (‘Heather’), Molly Leach (‘Riley’), Gigi James (‘Sam’) Chris Scarciotta (‘The Follower’), Walker Edelman (‘Terry’), Jonathan Jennings (‘Party Guy’), James Rich (‘Jake’), Serena Kamlani (Jamie’), and Ted Rich (‘Gas Station Attendant’).
