Fan-Made ‘Halloween’ (2018) Trailer Inspires Hope In New Entry

Not since Scream 4 have I anticipated a horror film with everything in my body. The newest installment in the Halloween franchise has officially beat that excitement tenfold. As many of you know, Halloween is what started my love affair for horror, so the news of a new film was something that had me salivating. Then, we found out that the canon of the series was about to be pushed to the side, and we would be getting treated – or tricked – into a direct sequel to the original. I have to admit, I had mixed feelings about this. Then, my spouse tagged me in a concept trailer done by Youtuber P. Parker. Let me just say that this video completely changed how I felt about this upcoming film.

Isn’t it awesome?!?

While we are a few months away from any official trailer being released, it still is fun to speculate on how the updated Halloween story will actually go. IMDb’s description of the film is very vague, and it’s pretty clear that details are gonna be kept under a tight lock and key. It seems I am not the only fan that is hungry for more information. P. Parker created a concept trailer that is so well done that it made me want to see his version of the film. In his concept trailer, there is an exchange between Laurie and her daughter that reignited my hope for this film.

Laurie admits, “I locked him up for a long time, but he got out. He came after me.” Her daughter cries, “That’s why I came!” Simple, right? Yes, it is very minuscule, but suddenly, I saw the potential for how this film could go. It can still be enjoyable, even if it asks us to forget everything that we have learned over the past 40 years. Suddenly, I wanted to see Laurie “The Mother” instead of Laurie “The Sister.”

I now believe that this new Halloween film can be epic. The franchise has proven time and time again that it can survive a re-imagining of the main storyline. With Halloween: Resurrection, we substituted motive for kung-fu lessons with Busta Rhymes. But there still were aspects that were enjoyable, even  with that entry. With John Carpenter being involved with the new film and Nick Castle making an appearance, we could have an unbeatable movie.

What do you guys think? How do you think the plot is going to go? Do you think that it is going to be successful? To keep yourselves updated on all things horror, keep it tuned right here to Pophorror.
