Synopsis
Diane Guerrero (Doom Patrol, Orange Is the New Black) and Juan Pablo Raba (Narcos, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) are haunted by an evil spirit in The Whistler. After their daughter’s death, a grieving couple inherits a remote Venezuelan farm occupied by a mysterious cult who claim to summon spirits. Desperate for one last connection, Nicole joins their rituals — awakening The Whistler.
The ancient entity’s chilling whistle signals death. The further you hear it, the closer it is.
Indhira Serrano, Laureano Olivarez, Laura Sofía Domínguez, and Laura Garcia Marulanda round out the cast.
Diego Velasco directs from a script he co-wrote with Esteban Orozco and Carolina Paiz based on an earlier screenplay by Nacho Palacios.
“Venezuela has ghosts that don’t forgive. The Whistler is my attempt to drag them into the light. This is a deeply personal story of grief, longing, and the kind of terror that only ancient folklore can conjure. I can’t wait for horror fans to meet what’s been haunting me.”

My Thoughts
If you like movies that have blood and gore and creepiness , then you’ll definitely love The Whistler.
I love the way that the storyline follows so seamlessly and you never know what is going to happen next.
Shout out to the director of The Whistler Diego Velasco I got to say the special effects they used for the movie and the amount of blood they used was very nice. They had me believing that the kills were authentic.
If you like movies that have a slasher/ spirit kind of feel this movie is for you!!

Final Thoughts
I wouldn’t recommend this movie to anyone under the age of 15 because of all the blood and guts that are in it. Also had a good deal of cursing.
I will say I liked that even if you didn’t know how to speak Spanish they would put it up there with English subtitles. If you like horror and lore packed into one then you will like The Whistler.

The film’s runtime is an hour and 36 minutes and it is not rated. Touted as, “a character-driven blend of folk horror, supernatural suspense, and cultural resonance,” The Whistler opens in select theaters on April 17 via Vertical Entertainment.
