The Slasher Nurse

David Kerr’s ‘THE SLASHER NURSE’ (2025) – Movie Review

I’m a huge fan of down and dirty gory slasher films. Whenever I get the chance to check out a new slasher film, I’m always excited. The latest slasher film to get me excited is The Slasher Nurse. Did The Slasher Nurse satisfy my appetite for gore?

Read on to find out!

Synopsis

After a prank goes wrong, one person is left dead and another institutionalized. Ten years later, a group of friends are partying at a cabin in the woods unaware that a deranged psychiatric patient has escaped and is hell bent on revenge.

The Slasher Nurse was written and directed by David Kerr (Bloody Summer Camp). The film stars Regina Groth, Gretchen Settle (Go Away), Sean Cameron Dalton (Coffintooth), Amber Fulcher (Go Away), Joshua Kirpach (Crust), Brendan Lynch (Bloody Summer Camp), DeRome A. Chretien (Killer Campout Part II), Brucellious Morris Jr (The Soul That Ties Us), Diana Prince (The Barn Part II), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Beverly Randolph (Return of the Living Dead), Brian Bremer (Pumpkinhead), Chanda Rawlings (The Legend of Crick Foot), Jim Krut (Blood and Breakfast), and Michael McGlynn (Shriekshow).

The Slasher Nurse follows a familiar and time honored setup: Prank goes wrong. Someone dies. Someone is killing the ones responsible. That said, it does it well and does so while putting its own spin on the familiar trope and adding some nice twists.

It was really nice to see so many familiar faces here. We get the amazing Felissa Rose, “Darcy the Mail Girl” Diana Prince, and Return of the Living Dead‘s Beverly Randolph. The rest of the cast is stacked with indie horror veterans.

I really loved the entire cast here and everyone does a wonderful job. Some of the high points are Regina Groth as Grace and Chanda Rawlings as Macey. Grace is a great character and you really feel for her. She’s been through some shit and you can really tell. It makes you want to root for her even more. Macey goes through a lot over the course of the film and I really felt awful for her because she seems like a decent person. Amber Fulcher makes The Slasher Nurse a genuine presence. She’s very imposing and strong. I feel like for a slasher film the characters were pretty well developed and the relationships between the characters kept me invested until the carnage hits.

The Slasher Nurse

One of my favorite things about The Slasher Nurse is that it really doesn’t hold back on the gore. While The Slasher Nurse takes its time getting to the kills, there are tons of gore-filled deaths and an extremely high body count. Without giving too much away, some of my favorites involved a bear trap and a lawnmower and an excellent extended massacre at a bar. Once the kills get going, it really doesn’t let up till the credits roll. The final act features some nice and unexpected twists that add to the fun.

Final Thoughts

The Slasher Nurse is a nice and gory indie slasher that I feel like audiences will really love. It features a familiar setup but adds some nice twists. The cast is excellent. Recommended.
