I’m a huge fan of Antiviral and my friend couldn’t stop praising Possessor: Uncut, so I was pumped to finally check it out, and let’s just say it didn’t disappoint. This film was directed and written by Antiviral’s Brandon Cronenberg (read our interview with him – HERE). It stars Andrea Riseborough (Birdman, Oblivion), Christopher Abbott (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Catch-22), and Academy Award® nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight, 2015).
Synopsis for Possessor Uncut
The groundbreaking sci-fi thriller about elite corporate assassin Tasya Vos. Using brain-implant technology, Vos takes control of other people’s bodies to execute high-profile targets. As she sinks deeper into her latest assignment, Vos becomes trapped inside a mind that threatens to obliterate her.
Possessor: Uncut was a mind-bending thriller that delivered award-winning performances, a uniquely intense story, and wicked cinematography. The story-line was very compelling and had me asking all sorts of questions like how does one get involved in this business, would it be worth it, and how long before it takes a toll on your brain/body?
Andrea Riseborough’s performance blew me away. Her character is one you respect but also kind of hate. She seems so good at her job that you question where her morals lie. Then there was Christopher Abbott and his performance was equally brilliant. I felt bad for his character. It’s one thing to have no control of your actions and then another to find out that you have no control of your actions. It was a mind fuck and a true out of body experience.
Possessor: Uncut had some exceptional cinematography and imagery throughout the film. There’s something very dark and poetic about the way things were shot and the close attention to detail was something that couldn’t be missed. The special effects and makeup were also incredibly well-done and rather haunting and pure nightmare fuel.
The film has a runtime of approximately 104 minutes. Some of the bonus material includes deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes footage, which was an extra special treat to an incredibly well-made film. Well Go USA Entertainment released, Possessor: Uncut, today December 4th, on Digital, 4K, and Blu-ray! Be sure to check it out!
