Ever wonder what your babysitter does when you go to bed? Well, McG’s The Babysitter has an answer to that. Cole (Judah Lewis) has a big crush on his babysitter, Bee (Samara Weaving), but Bee isn’t all that she seems. Cole decides to stay up late and see what his babysitter is up to. Turns out that Bee is into some human sacrifice. When she finds out Cole isn’t asleep, that is when the party begins.
Official Synopsis:
The events of one evening take an unexpected turn for the worst for a young boy trying to spy on his babysitter.
I have to say that Netflix is killing it in the movie department. We had Little Evil (A 2017 Netflix Original), Gerald’s Game (A 2017 Netflix Original – read our review here) and Cult of Chucky (2017 – read our review here). Now, we have McG’s The Babysitter. The film is an epic, blood-filled comedy with a bunch of horror and terrific one-liners.
It’s been a while since I saw a film about teens in horror. It makes me think of Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer mixed with Not Another Teen Movie. The film has all the stereotypical high school roles: goth, cheerleader, jock, the girl next door and the awkward nerd. So much for Samuel (Doug Haley), as he gets two knives to the head thus becoming Sacrifice Samuel. Things continue to get more hilarious as Cole calls the cops. Bella Thorne’s character gets shot in the boob and she keeps the boob gag going throughout the rest of the film.
I can’t say which one of the gang that I like the best, because they each brought hilarious moments to the film. Robbie Amell plays a hilarious jock who is just wants to murder people. It was cute when he tried to get Cole to stand up to the bully egging his house. Hana Mae Lee’s death scene was pretty epic, too. I loved it when she shouted out to Cole that she wasn’t dead yet and then came the second explosion.
Overall, this film won me over because of the cast. Samara Weaving is convincing as the loving babysitter turned psychopath. Plus, the whole gang of teens were just hilarious and had really good one-liners. You definitely don’t want to miss this film. The Babysitter can currently be streamed on Netflix.
