Horror Realm Con 2026 – Event Review

Local conventions are a great way for fans to connect with other like-minded peers and genre celebrities. Such as the case with Horror Realm Con, one of Pittsburgh’s longest running and most reputable gatherings for fans of things that go bump in the night.
This year’s Horror Realm Con ran from February 27-March 1 and showcased a brand-new venue. They packed the DoubleTree Greentree-Pittsburgh with twenty-eight celebrity guests and dozens of unique vendors. The vendors had merchandise that ranged from shirts to DVDs to drawings to candles, to anything a creepy heart could covet.
But the events didn’t stop there. Horror Realm Con also featured “Scaryoke”, first-time Q&A panels, specialized photo ops, and a screening room for local genre films. In the interest of full disclosure, my film was one of the movies chosen to be screened, which I view as an absolute honor. It was part of a two-day lineup which encompassed features, shorts, trailers, and famous films from some of the guests.
Speaking of the guests in attendance, I had the privilege of picking the brains of several of them. Christine Elise (Child’s Play 2 1990, read our retro review here) spoke to me about always coming onto a set without expectations. She also playfully lamented her recent string of roles as a gynecologist. She thinks that “Kyle” is so loved because of her cool but maternal nature in Child’s Play 2. Bill Mosely (3 From Hell 2019) told me a story about Prisoners Of The Ghostland, for which he had to run around on a ship in Japan, memorizing bulky lines. While he wants everyone to check out that movie, he’d also really like to be involved with the upcoming Terrifier 4, citing the impressive efforts of the crew in the growth of that franchise.
But the wonderful guest conversations at Horror Realm Con didn’t stop there. Genre legend Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp 1983) remarked on the importance of mental health and positive affirmations, and her encouragement truly brightened the day of everyone around her. She offered “free hugs”, and she’s always among the nicest people in any room that she’s in.
I also got to chat with former TNA/AEW wrestler Allie (AKA The Bunny) about the crossover between wrestling fans and horror fans. She mentioned how much she appreciates their passion and how the niche interests really bond people, and how there’s something for everyone in both mediums. She cites Spookies and Curtains as two of her favorite hidden gems in the world of horror cinema. I want to send so much love to the people that took the time to speak to me, and I wish them all the luck in the world as they continue to do amazing things.
As always, Horror Realm Con provides a safe, inclusive, and well-run space and gives the fans a diverse event to get up close with the legends that inspire their love for horror. They’ll be running a vendor event in November 2026 and a convention in February of 2027, that I highly recommend.
