13 Of The Spookiest Songs Ever Recorded

I love music. Lots of different music. And I always have. I have the same love for music as horror, I may mainline punk rock, but I learned to be tribal at my older age. Let’s get down to some of the spookiest songs ever. Enter at your own risk. These songs are the type that even give me the creeps and goosebumps.

They are in no particular order. I love them all too much to make a ranked choice,

Bloodrock – ‘D.O.A’

Since we are going spookiest, this definitely had to make the list. Written about someone’s last moments alive after a plane crash, the song creeps right in. The video is even worse when it is set to traumatize you. Prepare for an 8-minute song that will stop you from flying ever again.

Misfits – ‘Halloween II’

There’s something about Glen Danzig speaking non-standard Latin that makes you uncomfortable. Sure buddy, conjure up so demons! Seriously though, one of the creepiest songs I have ever heard.

Arthur Brown – ‘Fire’

I am not afraid to admit that this song gives me the damn chills, always has, always will. It messed me up forever. This song always brings that same feeling of simple shock rock. Still one of the creepiest songs though for anyone.

Porter Wagoner – ‘The Rubber Room’

This is haunting for me. Dealing with mental illness all my life, I imagined this is where I would have ended up here. But I work hard, take care of myself, staying medicated.

Alice Cooper – ‘I Love The Dead’

This song highlights the creepy fixation on the dead… Well… Some of us. It’s no secret what this song is about. A very weird and creepy subject for a song, one that has only been used by the likes of TSOL.

Johnny Cash – ’13’

Written for Johnny Cash while signed to American Records. Those are my favorite Cash albums. Written by Glen Danzing for Johnny, Years later Danzig would record a version of his own sound.

Slipknot – ‘Gently’

One of the spookiest slipknot songs out there. What creeps me out so much in this song is it explains my head, it can be triggering or too loud for some. I often forget how much this song explains my daily life as being mentally ill. It’s an anthem for us, for all the rage we are too afraid to let out.

The World Famous Crawlspace Brothers – ‘Born Bad’

A homage to serial killer Carl Panzram. This song in its raw form is definitely one that reaches the creepy core of you.

Metallica – ‘One’

I know you didn’t expect to see them here, but let’s face it, this song always hits me in a different way. I was always scared of this video as a kid. At the time I totally didn’t understand its meaning, but I think understanding whats going on is just as creepy

Marilyn Manson – ‘The Man That You Fear’

I was a Mansonite in my teens, I regret nothing, But I kind of grew out of the guy. Still, there is no denying that this song brought me down to a kind of scared little animal. The video is just as weird as the song.

Skinny Puppy – ‘Worlock’

This song always gives me goosebumps, even though it is one of my favorite songs. Skinny Puppy was known for theatrics this video proves it

Roky Erickson – ‘BurnThe Flames’

This song is one of the spookiest if you have seen the movie Return Of The Living Dead, you know how sad this scene is. It always stuck in my head, and always will be

Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats – ‘Cut You Down’

This band has broken its way into “I love this band!” They sound so raw and tight. This was the first song I heard from them which is still my favorite.

That pretty much sums up what creeped me out. I can watch horror all I want, but music is an escape from reality. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I liked putting this together. Some may disagree with my list, but hey, everyone has their own fears or tastes.

What do you think? Any spooky songs we missed that should have made the list? Tell us in the comments!
