Astronomicon 7

Joe Lynch And Adam Green Steal The Show At Astronomicon 7!

The seventh installment of Astronomicon took place in Detroit this past weekend! This convention has proven it isn’t just a one hitter. The event successfully provided another weekend of high moments for those in attendance.

AWESOME VENDORS

Exploring the vendor booths is always tons of fun! There is always the staple for all your Funko and Necca needs like My Nerdvana Toys & Collectibles. This vendor has been part of Astronomicon since the first year.

There were other vendors at Astronomicon 7 that grabbed my attention. First was Art by Amanda who uses skateboards as her canvas! Next, was The Art of Terence Muncy that spoke to my love for the horror genre. Finally, I can’t forget to mention the chilling scary movie masks and collectibles at Crypt Keepers!

CELEBRITY MEET AND GREETS

There was a multitude of celebrities from all genres for fans to meet at Astronomicon 7. I had three celebrities that I had on my list that I was excited to meet. My first stop was to meet actress, Heather Matarazzo! She is known for films like Welcome to the Dollhouse (1995), Devil’s Advocate (1997), Hostel, Part II (2007), Scream 3 (2000) and 5 (2022), and The Princess Diaries 1 (2001) and 2 (2004). When I approached Heather Matarazzo’s table I was greeted with a genuine big smile and excitement at seeing my Welcome to the Dollhouse T-shirt. She even made me an honorary member of the SPC! (if you know you know)

The next two celebrities on my list to meet at Astronomicon 7 were Adam Green and Joe Lynch. These two have collaborated on many projects together like the television series Holliston (2012) and their podcast, The Movie Crypt. They each have had success individually as well with Adam Green being known for the Hatchet (2006) franchise, Frozen (2010), and Spiral (2007). While Joe Lynch is best known for Mayhem (2017) and most recently Suitable Flesh (2023). It was truly a pleasure to meet both of these men and it was wonderful to see how engaging they both are with their fans! They may or may not have let me take a picture with a special prop from the television series Holliston. I will never tell lol.

KEEPERS OF THE MOVIE CRYPT PANEL

The highlight of Astronomicon 7 was the Keepers of the Movie Crypt panel with Adam Green and Joe Lynch. This panel allowed fans to learn more about these two celebrities with the opportunity to ask questions. It was a truly great experience to listen to these two divulge their experiences from the horror making business.

Both Adam Green and Joe Lynch shared that they both had musical starts to their careers. Joe Lynch talked about how directing a music video for the song Love? with the band Strapping Young Lad was pivotal in launching his career. This video was inspired by his love for Evil Dead 2 (1987). Shortly after this project Hollywood came calling asking for him to direct a horror film. Adam Green discussed his early days on vocals for the band Haddonfield but circumstances led him going into film.

The duo went on to discuss the desire to make a third season of Holliston. As well as working with Henry Rollins and Kane Hodder. I can’t forget mentioning Adam Green talking about his fascination with Corey Feldman! It was a hell of a time that these two provided fans at their panel!
